Huntington Safe Boating Week and Waterfront Festival

May 1, 2019 | Boating Long Island Magazine “FUN” –
The seventh annual Huntington Safe Boating Week takes place from Saturday, May 18 through Friday, May 24. An informative and fun week of events is presented by the Greater Huntington Council of Yacht and Boating Clubs, in partnership with the Town of Huntington.

Boaters and would-be boaters will be able to take a free New York State eight-hour safe boating class on May 18 (call 631-351-3255 for a reservation). That day the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and U.S. Power Squadrons® will also be conducting vessel safety inspections — a no cost, no risk way to determine if your boat is properly equipped and in compliance with laws and regulations (phone numbers and locations for appointments are listed on the website below).

Rain or shine, the fun waterfront festival takes place Sunday, May 19 at Mill Dam Park in Halesite. Dealers and vendors selling boat supplies, nautical décor, crafts, and more will keep it nautical, but there’ll be food, music, and fun for all.

Go by boat to the festival — Mill Dam Park is across the street from the Huntington Town Marina. Transient moorings and docks are available at Willis Marina and West Shore Marina.

More complimentary activities are planned throughout the week, including classes, seminars, and a talk on marine salvage.
